... by bike
Getting to the institute by bike is very comfortable thanks to an excellent and popular cycle path running next to the river Rhine. Plenty of bike racks can be found in front of the building or in the parking garage.
... by public transport (bus and train)
The institute is also easily accessible via public transport (VRS network). The nearest train station is 'UN Campus' (RB 48, RE 5) = is approx. 3.5 km away. The nearest underground/tram stops are "Robert-Schumann-Platz" (lines 63, 66 and 68) = approx. 1.3 km away, and Hochkreuz/Deutsches Museum Bonn (lines 63 and 16) = approx. 1.6 km away.
The following bus lines take you directly to the institute (1-minute walk, barrier-free):
- Bus line 610 (e.g. from Bonn main station towards 'Giselherstr. (Mehlem)', travel time 20 minutes). Get off at the 'Rheinaue Süd' stop.
- Bus line 611 (e.g. from Bonn main station towards 'Pappelweg (Heiderhof)', travel time 20 minutes): Get off at the 'Rheinaue Süd' stop.
The building is clearly visible from the bus stop and is approximately a two-minute walk away. For more detailed timetable information, please visit the VRS website.
Rental scooters and bicycles are also available at many locations.
... by taxi
A taxi from Bonn Central Station to the institute (6.5 km/10 minutes) costs around €18.
... by car
- From the south: Take highway A 565 to Dreieck Beuel and follow on to A 59 Königswinter.
- From the north: Take highway A 59 to Bonn/Königswinter.
At Autobahnkreuz Bonn-Ost (exit 42) continue to Bonn-Bad Godesberg on the A 562. After crossing the Rhine take the exit Bonn Rheinaue (exit 2) stay left and follow the road signs about 1.5 km to the institute. It is located on the left side.
... by plane
The institute is located near three international airports: Köln/Bonn, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.
Cologne/Bonn Airport
Cologne/Bonn Airport is the nearest airport, located 25 km away from Bonn. A taxi costs around 63 Euros. You can also take the Airport Express Bus SB60 to Bonn Central Station (express bus surcharge ticket is required; text in German, short English information can be found here). The journey takes around 25 minutes.
Frankfurt Airport
When landing at Frankfurt Airport (160 km from Bonn), you need to take the Rapid Train (ICE) to Siegburg/Bonn (only 50 minutes). Please note that not all ICE trains travelling in the Cologne direction stop in Siegburg/Bonn.
Düsseldorf Airport
When landing at Düsseldorf Airport (85 km from Bonn) take a train (ICE, IC or EC) to Bonn Central Station (50 minutes).
