Institute News
The Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology of Behavior – caesar participated successfully in the Atlanta Science Festival, which took place on March 23, 2024, in Piedmont Park. We were thrilled to present our research and engage a broad and diverse audience with interactive experiments.
Our booth offered visitors the chance to control a neuroprosthetic hand using their own muscle action potentials in "The Claw" experiment. The "Phantom Limb" experiment, which gave participants the illusion of having a third hand, was especially a hit among children and demonstrated the remarkable adaptability of our brains. The day before the festival, we held three workshops for over 110 students from bilingual schools. These workshops were designed to give the students a comprehensive insight into neurobiology.
The feedback from festival participants was consistently positive, and many showed great interest in further information about our institute. This experience reinforces our commitment to making science accessible to all and spreading the fascination with neuroethological research. The Atlanta Science Festival provides an important platform for sharing science with the community and inspiring young people to engage in STEM fields. We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our participation in the coming years.
